Product Description

The Silver Palate Oatmeal, Thick & Rough is 100% Whole grain milled oats. We mill these whole grain oats extra thick for richer flavor and rougher texture than regulate oatmeal. They are richer, darker and fuller than the most popular of old fashioned oatmeal’s. The nut-like flavor of these memorable whole grain oats is a delight to eat. These rougher, thicker rolled oats cook up into a texture that provides sheer breakfast pleasure for those who can appreciate an oatmeal classic. Silver Palate Thick & Rough oats are brim full of complex carbohydrates with all natural goodness.

This is a very hearty, tasty oatmeal. It takes ten minutes to cook, so not quick but definitely worth the wait.
THE BEST OATMEAL

This is the first time I've tried this oatmeal. I've been using steel cut for a long time and decided to give this a try. It is excellent. I serve it with vanilla soy milk and a little agave syrup. Like eating dessert. This is the only oatmeal that I will serve. TRY IT!!!!!
Very Good Stuff!

I tried this oatmeal because of Silver Palate's reputation and an incredible 50% off deal. It's great. Not mushy at all. Substantial. It has changed my idea of traditional oatmeal - I'd become a McCann's steel cut guy. I still prefer McCann's (and Trader Joe's less expensive steel cut), but some days I don't have 30 minutes to make McCann's, and the 8-10 minute cooking time for Silver Palate is a plus. (I find McCann's fast cooking oatmeal inedible.)
Never liked oatmeal until I tried this

WOW! I grew up hating oatmeal - thought it was slimey and reminded me of wallpaper paste. Could only tolerate it when used as an ingredient in cookies, meatloaf, etc. First time I ate Silver Palate Oatmeal I was amazed at the difference. There was actual taste and texture that was good! I've since tried other rough cut, minimally processed oatmeals but I keep coming back to Silver Palate. Sometimes I even get a craving for this oatmeal - which I would never have imagined could happen to a confirmed oatmeal hater.
Excellent

I was very glad to see this deal.
For extra flavor try cooking it with fresh blueberries.
Also try making it with half apple juice, half water .
- It's not instant (which is mush)
- It's more like whole rolled oats, not meal(which is mush)
- It has flavor, good and hearty
